Injuries to your spine can
have far reaching effects on your health. The Atlas Orthogonal
chiropractic procedure, which Dr. John Ellwood utilizes, has
helped many suffering patients regain their health. If you are
in pain, this procedure may help you too.
When trauma to the spine
occurs the top vertebrae of the spine, the atlas vertebra, can
misalign from its proper position. The misalignment can be the
result of a sudden accident or the result of forces that occur
gradually over time, such as poor
posture while working or playing.
The atlas misalignment causes
a distortion in the rest of the spine due to the complex
biomechanical relationship of the head, the atlas vertebra, and
the lower cervical spine. The body compensates for the
distortion by forming an abnormal curvature of the spine, a long
and short leg, a high and low hip, and muscular imbalance.
The spinal column houses the
delicate spinal cord. When the atlas misaligns it not only
affects your musculo-skeletal structure, but also affects both
the neurological and vascular link between the brain and the
rest of the body. Thus, an atlas misalignment may produce
disruptive changes in tissues and organs throughout the body,
often leading to one or more of the following:
-
Neck pain
-
Migraines
- Headaches
-
Low back pain
-
Pain, numbness, and tingling in the arms and legs
- Disc problems
- Degenerative arthritis of the spine
- Abnormal movement of the entire spine
Spinal injuries are
often deceiving since the symptoms may appear far from the cause
of the problem. Thus, treating the symptom alone is not enough.
The cause of the symptom must also be corrected.
